What is Interpersonal Therapy (IPT)?

Interpersonal Therapy focuses on how our mood impacts our relationships, and how our relationships impact our mood.

This therapeutic modality is especially helpful for people experiencing symptoms of low mood or depression in the context of:

  • Bereavement / Grief
  • Relationship Difficulties (e.g. with a partner, friend, colleague)
  • Difficulties making and maintaining relationship
  • Life transitions (e.g. becoming a mother or father, changing jobs, retirement, development of an illness).

The treatment aims to understand the links between symptoms of low mood in the context of your past and present relationships, and think about ways of drawing on social support to help you manage and work through whichever of the above focal areas is troubling you.
